ELIH APPOINTS NEW MEMBER TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Eastern Long Island Hospital today announced the appointment of Paula Skwara Croteau to the Board of Trustees as a member of the Class of 2009. Ms. Croteau runs her own cooking school and is proprietor of Croteaux Farm Vineyard with her husband, Michael, a graphic designer. Residents of Southold, they have two children, Ivy, 13 and Markis, 11. Paula, herself, is a Southold High School graduate.
Ms. Croteau’s professional experience is extensive. She holds a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of Vermont and a minor in fashion design. She also attended the New School Cooking School in Manhattan.
Paula's 4-year nursing career began in 1978 at the Mary Fletcher Medical Center and the Vermont Visiting Nurse Association. In 1982, she changed her focus to pursue her love of fashion and design, first as a buyer for Expressions; then as VP Merchandise Manager at Ann Taylor, and subsequently as a fashion merchandise and design consultant in New York City. In 1994, she opened Farmer’s Daughter Catering and Bakery, which is now Farmhouse Kitchen Cooking School offering private and/or group gourmet cooking lessons.

Currently on the Parks and Recreation Committee for Southold Town, Paula was also a member of the Southold School Shared Decision Committee and served on the North Fork Women’s Center Board.
ELIH APPOINTS NEW MEMBER TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Eastern Long Island Hospital today announced the appointment of Tazewell A. Smith to the Board of Trustees for the Class of 2007.
Mr. Smith was previously in the Commercial Banking Industry and served as the Senior Vice President and Division Executive for the International Banking Region, Correspondent Banking and the Not-For-Profit Business Group for Middle Market Banking at JP Morgan Chase & Company. Mr. Smith brings over 20 years of financial experience to ELIH. An active community member, Mr. Smith has held several Board of Directors positions which have included: Chairman, Greater Jamaica Development Corporation and Member of the Board of Directors for Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra; Premiere Health Care, Inc. and South Queens Boys and Girls Club.
He was a member of the Board of Advisors for the Wildlife Conservation Society and the Business Advisory Board for YAI/National Institute for People with Disabilities. He has also served as Co-Chair of the Finance Committee for the Brooklyn Philharmonic Orchestra and as a member of the Steering Committee for the Wildlife Conservation’s NY Aquarium. Mr. Smith is a graduate of St. John Fisher College where he received a Bachelor of Arts in English. Mr. Smith completed the Harvard Business School, Program for Management Development in 1983. Formerly a resident of Glen Head, Mr. Smith is currently retired and resides in Orient with his wife Kathy. They have three grown sons, Tazewell, Craig and Keith.
ELIH APPOINTS NEW MEMBERS TO BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Eastern Long Island Hospital today announced the appointment of Dr. Robert T. Bramson to the Board of Trustees, Class of 2009. Dr. Bramson, a Board Certified Radiologist with an additional certification in Pediatric Radiology recently retired from The Children’s Hospital of Boston where he held the position of Executive Vice Chairman, Associate Radiologist-in-Chief. His previous appointments include Director of Pediatric Radiology, Massachusetts General Hospital; Director of Pediatric Radiology, University of South Florida College of Medicine and Director of Continuing Medical Education, Tampa General Hospital, Florida. Dr. Bramson received his medical degree from the Washington School of Medicine, St. Louis, Missouri and has over 30 years of experience in private practice and academic medicine.
Notable awards and honors include the Lawrence L. Robbins, MD Teaching Award, Massachusetts General Hospital; the Partners in Excellence Award, Partners Health Care Systems, Inc. and Best Doctors in America Award 2005 – 2006.
Dr. Bramson currently resides in East Marion with his wife, Ruth Ann, a retired university professor. They have three grown children.
Eastern Long Island Hospital today announced the appointment of James F. Preston, CPA to the Board of Trustees as a pro tempore member of the Class of 2009.
Mr. Preston has his own accounting firm in Cutchogue. Previously, Mr. Preston was employed by the New York State Attorney General’s Office in the Medicaid Fraud Unit where his responsibilities included the financial investigation of nursing homes and hospitals. Prior to that, Mr. Preston was a Quartermaster, 2nd Class in the United States Nave responsible for navigation operations.
With over 30 years of financial experience, Mr. Preston is well-versed in medical reimbursement, financial analysis and reporting, and is a welcome addition to the Board. Mr. Preston’s professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, New York State Society of Public Accountants, the National Ski Patrol and the Shelter Island American Red Cross Ambulance. Mr. Preston holds a Bachelor of Arts from C.W. Post College, Long Island University.
He currently resides on Shelter Island with his wife, Barbara, a professor at Hofstra University. They have a grown son, James F. Preston, Jr.
