The 32-bed Medical-Surgical Unit and 5-bed Intensive Care Units provide streamlined patient care in a beautifully designed contemporary environment. Through the knowledge, skill and expertise of our physicians and healthcare team, ELIH provides high-quality healthcare for you and your family, close to home. Specialty inpatient care is also provided for those who require telemetry heart monitoring.
Nursing care focuses on a team approach using nationally standardized clinical paths and protocols for optimum patient outcomes. Located on the 2nd floor of the hospital, many patient rooms offer soothing water views of Stirling Harbor. ELIH is committed to patient safety. Safe patient care requires constant dedication and a commitment to excellence. Continued performance improvement processes help the CARE Team set goals and establish “best practices” to promote a culture of safety.
Medical /Surgical Unit: 10 am - 8:30 pm (must be at least 14 years old).
ICU / CCU: Immediate family only; two visitors at bedside, between 10 am-10 pm.

Behavioral Health Services include 30 beds for Acute & Sub-acute Inpatient Addiction Services under the Quannacut program and 23-bed Inpatient Psychiatric Unit. Psychiatric patients may be referred to Eastern Long Island Hospital by a triage center at Stony Brook University Hospital, as well as other agencies in the greater metro area.
Ambulatory Surgery – Skilled physicians perform a wide range of surgical procedures, including; general surgery, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, plastic surgery, urology, spine surgery as well as gastrointestinal and interventional pain management procedures at the Advanced Ambulatory Surgery Care Center.
Interventional Pain Center - The Interventional Pain Center offers sophisticated treatment options for chronic pain. A board certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain specialist treats patients at the Advanced Ambulatory Surgery Care Center.
Emergency Medicine – The Emergency Department is a 5,000 square foot facility with spacious treatment areas for trauma and chest pain. ELIH is accessible by land, sea and air with a heliport and emergency dock. Fully equipped to provide pediatric emergency care and a Board Certified Emergency Medicine Team that exceeds New York State Standards, the ER has one of the shortest waiting times in Suffolk County.
Diagnostic Services - Advanced diagnostic imaging includes bone densitometry, ultrasound, low dose 128-slice CT scanner, 1.5 Tesla Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and digital mammography. With filmless radiography, ELIH ensures patient safety and provides rapid diagnosis and prompt treatment. Our PAC’s system keeps digital images available at the touch of a button. The Laboratory at Eastern Long Island Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations and licensed by New York State. This accreditation is a gold seal of approval that indicates the Laboratory has achieved the highest standards of excellence and is committed to positively impacting patient care . Laboratory services include chemistry, serology, hematology, cytology, microbiology, immunology, histology, urinalysis and blood bank.
General blood work may be drawn from 7:30 am to 10 am on the main level of the hospital near the Emergency Room waiting area. Appointments are recommended for Laboratory testing. However, walk-ins are welcome Please have your physician's order with you, along with your health plan identification card. To assure accurate results, please follow fasting instructions, if applicable. From 10 am to 3 pm, the lower level lab may be accessed. For appointment, call 631.477.5121.
