Eastern Long Island Hospital is pleased to announce the selection of Deborah Boesch-O’Toole, RN, CNOR, Manager Perioperative Services as a “Top Nurse” in Greenport by the International Nurses Association (INA). With a nursing career that spans over 42 years, Deborah has demonstrated leadership qualities in all areas of nursing care and management. Her expertise and skill have been invaluable to the surgical team in the peri-operative unit. In her role as a perioperative nurse, Deborah works with patients who are having operative or other invasive procedures. She works closely with the surgeons, anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists and surgical technologists to ensure a smooth transition from the Ambulatory Surgery Unit to the Operating Room.
“With a commitment to caring for patients undergoing surgery, Deborah continually uses her nursing skills to prepare patients and alleviate any questions or concerns they may have in regard to their procedure. Focused on quality care, she is directly involved with protocols, assessments and monitoring to most aptly prepare each patient for an optimal surgical experience,” states D. Patricia Pispisa, Senior Vice President/ Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer.
Deborah Boesch-O’Toole joined the Nursing Team at Eastern Long Island Hospital in 2012 and has developed an excellent rapport with patients and colleagues. Before joining the team at ELIH, she was a nurse at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital in Patchogue, and an Operating Room Nurse Manager at Peconic Bay Medical Center in Riverhead and Stony Brook University Medical Center. She is a member of the Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI or ΣΘΤ). STTI is the second largest nursing organization in the world with approximately 135,000 active members. Deborah currently resides in Hampton Bays.
